Product Recommendations

Interested in the sound dampening of a belt box AND get the effects of a SOVT exercise? (semi-occluded vocal tract exercise such as lip trills, hums and straw phonation).  Order an Anesthesia Mask.  I have given some upperclassmen these to use in the past.  One of my travel must haves.  Clean with alcohol between uses and you are good to go!

Tongue tension got you down?  If you do any exercises where you manually massage the tongue or stretch it, gauze is a great way to keep things sanitary.  I have done tongue exercises with some of you and a damp paper towel will also suffice.  Here is the Gauze I keep on hand for students (when seeing all your lovely faces in person).

Personal SteamerSticking your head in the sink with hot water running and a towel over your head is the cheap and easy way, but it also is dependent on being need a bathroom and is a waste of water.  Here is the personal steamer I recommend.  There is a newer version available, but it is more expensive and this one does the trick just fine!

Allergies or illness causing mucous, ditch the Mucinex.  Mucinex has all sorts of additional medications added that are completely unnecessary if you are simply trying to break down the mucous.  Get Liquid Guaifenesin.  You can find at CVS and other drug stores as a store brand product.

Is your mask getting in the way of comfortably breathing in your more physical classes?  Try this Mask Insert.  I use it at the gym when running on the treadmill.  It keeps the fabric of your mask from going into your mouth while inhaling.  Game changer!
